Abstract

The research adopted a mixed methodology to address the problem of failure in education, combining quantitative and qualitative approaches. The purpose of this was to analyze the experiences of students from the Faculty of Pedagogy, belonging to the 2020 and 2021 generations, regarding failure and its impact on educational development. Surveys were applied to a deliberate sample of students who had failed specific Educational Experiences, in addition to that, an investigation of the school trajectory was carried out, using a Google Forms form as an instrument, this was sent through WhatsApp; and of the 10 students surveyed, 50% had failed at least one Educational Experience, highlighting subjects such as Language, Problem Construction, Introduction to Community Development and Critical Thinking. The main reasons identified were the influence of the teacher and absences, especially in the fourth semester, the research reveals that the research and language subjects are the most challenging, since teachers and absences are determining factors in failure, to this adding that the COVID-19 pandemic had an emotional impact on 10% of those surveyed, although the majority managed to make adjustments to their life projects.
